I’ve spent more than 30 years working with ultrasound - long enough to have seen it evolve from a supportive tool into something that can fundamentally change clinical decision-making.
My Story
I began my career in Sydney in 1993, working alongside hand surgeons at a time when musculoskeletal ultrasound was still being defined. There were no clear roadmaps then. We were developing protocols, refining techniques, and learning in real time what ultrasound could truly offer to patient care.
That experience shaped how I work today. I’ve never been interested in ultrasound as just image acquisition. For me, its value lies in what it allows you to understand, and how that understanding translates into better, safer decisions for patients.
Over the years, my work has taken me across orthopaedics, sports medicine, rheumatology, and reproductive medicine, and more recently into facial aesthetics. While the clinical areas are different, the focus has always been the same, using ultrasound in a way that is precise, practical, and genuinely useful.
In aesthetics, this feels especially important. Ultrasound brings a level of clarity that can shift how practitioners approach safety, not just in theory, but in the moment. It’s an area I care deeply about, and one I believe will continue to shape the future of the field.
Education & Research
I hold a Master of Science in Research from University of New South Wales, am a Fellow of the Australasian Sonographers Association, and an Accredited Registered Sonographer (ASAR). I am currently completing my PhD in Medicine at UNSW, with research focused on the clinical application of shearwave elastography in musculoskeletal imaging.
I’ve authored and co authored more than 55 peer reviewed publications, with work published in journals including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine. I also serve as an Associate Editor for the Australian Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine AJUM and present regularly at national and international conferences.
I’ve been honoured to receive Sonographer of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Researcher of the Year awards from the ASA, recognition that reflects my ongoing commitment to both clinical practice and education.
Teaching has been a central part of my work for over 25 years, and it’s something I care deeply about.
I work with a wide range of clinicians, from experienced sonographers to practitioners using ultrasound for the first time, and my approach is always the same. It’s not just about acquiring an image. It’s about understanding what you’re seeing, and knowing what to do next.
My goal is to make ultrasound feel practical and accessible, without losing the clinical depth behind it. When people leave a course or workshop, I want them to feel more confident, more capable, and clear on how to apply what they’ve learned in their own practice.
LDL Solutions
I am co director of LDL Solutions, Australia’s first dedicated facial ultrasound complication management service.
This work sits very close to my heart. It brings together everything I value about ultrasound, clarity, precision, and the ability to guide better decisions, in situations where it matters most. Supporting practitioners through complications, and ultimately contributing to safer outcomes for patients.
